We always have had a passion for giving, but for 2021, we have decided to take it to the next level. Every month, not only will donate a portion of the proceeds to organizations, we will continue those relationships throughout the year to promote awareness for the issues that each organization represents.
this month we have chosen:
About Our Choice This Month
The Arc of Aurora is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has been changing lives for more than 40 years. With knowledge, passion, commitment and integrity, we work with and on behalf of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), helping them live the highest quality lives by providing information and referral; community training and education; individual, class and systems change advocacy; and individual, family, volunteer and community support.
Put simply, The Arc of Aurora helps people with I/DD and their families get what they need from the systems that are designed and funded to support them. We are the folks people call when they feel as if every door is closed and there are no more options. We help the organizations and people who ARE supposed to provide housing, transportation and job coaching understand what they need to know to adequately support their clients with I/DD. We are not residential or day program service providers and we do not run segregated schools — we do not offer, for instance, housing, transportation or job coaching. Government-funded organizations are charged with those duties.
The Arc of Aurora serves people who live in the City of Aurora (Arapahoe, Adams and Douglas Counties) including in Colorado Judicial Districts 17 and 18, and Aurora Public and Cherry Creek School Districts. The Arc of Aurora receives no government funding for its advocacy work. We are supported by private donations from individuals and allocations from Arc Thrift Stores of Colorado. The Arc of Aurora is affiliated with local chapters of The Arc throughout Colorado, The Arc of Colorado and The Arc of the United States. The Arc is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots advocacy organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
